Annual Fashion Show 2022
inspired by the album tranquility base hotel and Casino by the arctic monkeys, as well as the new-age space aesthetic RESULTing from the 1960s space RACE, these garments are my vision of staffing attire for an outer space hotel bellhop & conceirge. Featuring geometric silhouettes, these garments were constructed using scuba knit fabric, a hoop skirt base, and sinamay for a fascinator base. The production process included the conception of the idea, the collection of measurements and materials, the draping of the prototype on a model form, and the construction OF garments.

Digital Collage
Design & Illustration
this project focused on the garment conceptualization process - from mood board to textile to digital DEsign. using adobe photoshop and Indesign, I created a digital mood board inspired by the relationship between artists bob dylan and joan baez, and their rumored breakup song Diamonds and Rust. Drawing upon the song's themes of heartbreak, lost love, and the physical color/texture of rust, I used grounding earth colors in silhouettes common in the time that the song came out, 1975, to create a 70s-western aesthetic clothing design.

Magazine Paper collage
Design & Illustration
this project was inspired by a 1960s collage I made featuring magazine cutouts highlighting the new innovations in television and the boom in Hollywood during this era. the garment design represents my vision of what an actress would wear to an academy awards ceremony in the early 1960s.

showpieces

this piece was constructed for my undergraduate annual fashion show competition. designers were challenged to construct a garment using unconventional material, mine being chainmail.
The concept for this piece was inspired by the question, "What if joan of Arc had lived a life of luxury instead of a life of martyrdom?" The silhouette drew from the flapper style of dress in the roaring 20s. The construction of this piece involved the interlocking of over 12,000 pieces of chainmail links, which took over 100 hours of work. my design received second place in the competition, which featured over 30 designers, and the award for best use of unconventional materials.

vintage restoration

this restoration features a gown from the 1950s that had received water damage and cut on the sides with shears. I repaired the sides with careful stitching to preserve the integrity of the fragile fabric and I adjusted the bibble hem of the back folds. this project took careful work to keep the integrity of the fullness around the whole width of the skirt.

millinery
inspired by bob Dylan's rolling thunder revue tour and subsequent fashion style, i embellished this wool hat with hand-sewn natural fibers and florals that encapsulated the aura of this musical tour and bohemian era.

academic Research
"Eastern Influence in Western Waves: George Harrison, Indian Mysticism, and the Arts in Pop Culture of the Mid-Century"
For research week in my undergrad, I presented my findings related to the impact that George Harrison's spiritual journey had on the music of the Beatles, his solo music, and fashion and pop culture as a whole in the late 1960s and early 1970s. My research is published in my university's "Scholars Crossing" portal and was ranked second place out of competitors for research week across all online and residential students.
23
merchandising & styling
While in undergrad, I worked as a high-end vintage store merchandiser and appraiser at a local boutique. For the layout of the store, I decided to give it a color-coordinated theme and featured lots of maximalist designs that drew the eye and held the attention of the shopper.
